The morning will begin with a panel discussion on the importance of the aerospace and defense industry cluster in Arizona. As many of you well know, this segment contributes heavily to Arizona’s economy, employing tens of thousands of Arizonans and creating a supply-chain network that includes hundreds of small businesses. Our panelists include members of the Arizona Aerospace and Defense Commission who represent both large and small manufacturers and will discuss the issues and opportunities for this base industry. Next, we will have a discussion on effective technology transfer – how Arizona educational institutions can partner with private business through joint innovation to create and develop new products and processes. The third panel will include Arizona legislative leadership in a robust discussion on public policy and legislative action that will advance manufacturing in Arizona.
The awards luncheon will commence shortly after the close of the morning session. We are honored to host John Engler, former Governor of Michigan and President and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers, as our keynote lunch speaker. Gov. Engler leads the number one organization advocating for U.S. manufacturing and our role in global economics. Following lunch, we will recognize this year’s outstanding Arizona manufacturers and legislators with our awards presentation.
