Vice President and General Counsel

Steve Twist serves as Vice President and General Counsel for Services Group of America, in Scottsdale, Arizona. SGA is Arizona's largest privately held company. Prior to joining SGA in 2006, he was Assistant General Counsel for Viad Corp in Phoenix, Arizona (NYSE: vvi). From 1991 to 1996, he was in the private practice of law. From 1978 to 1991 he served as Chief Assistant Attorney General for the State of Arizona.

He is a founder of the Goldwater Institute, Arizona Voice for Crime Victims, and the Arizona Economic Forum. He served as a member of the State Board for Charter Schools, also serving as its President, and the Arizona Juvenile Justice Commission, both gubernatorial appointments. He serves on the board of two charter schools, Basis, with schools in Tucson and Scottsdale, and e-cademie, a school operated by the Goodwill of Central Arizona. He is past president of the Goodwill Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of the Arizona Charter School Association.

Steve is the author of the Arizona Victims' Bill of Rights constitutional amendment which the Arizona voters adopted in 1990. He serves as General Counsel to the National Victims Constitutional Amendment Network and on the boards of the National Organization for Victim Assistance and the National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children. He is the founder of the Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project which provides free legal and social service support for crime victims throughout the criminal justice process.

He is an adjunct professor at the ASU College of Law where he teaches crime victim's rights law. Along with Federal District Court Judge Paul Cassell and Prof. Douglas Beloof, he is the co-author of Victims in Criminal Procedure (Carolina Academic Press, 2006), a textbook in crime victimýs rights law.
